…Citizen Welfare Is Our Priority…
The Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, has extended a gesture of care and support to elderly residents within the Local Government through the distribution of food and cash palliatives.
The initiative is aimed at providing relief to senior citizens and supporting their welfare, particularly in the face of prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Council Boss reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented leadership, stressing that the elderly remain an important part of society whose contributions, sacrifices, and invaluable roles deserve recognition, respect, and continuous support.
He noted that the distribution of food and cash palliatives reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable members of the community receive the necessary assistance and are not left behind.

Beyond the provision of material support, the programme also created an opportunity for the elderly to relax, socialise, and celebrate together in an atmosphere of happiness, friendship, and togetherness.
As part of the activities, the beneficiaries participated in a dancing competition, which added excitement and entertainment to the event. Three elderly participants emerged as winners. Mrs. Morufat, who came first, won a deep freezer; Mr. Dauda Mohammed, who emerged second, won a sewing machine; while Mrs. Silifat Bada, who placed third, received a gas cylinder and cartons of Indomie noodles.
Over 500 elderly residents benefited from the food and cash palliatives, which included essential food items such as rice, wheat, and noodles, alongside financial assistance of Twenty Thousand Naira (#20,000)
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Executive Chairman for remembering and prioritising the needs of senior citizens in the community. They commended the thoughtful initiative and prayed for continued success in his administration.

The presentation was witnessed by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Moshood Adewale Momoh; Councillors; Supervisors; Party Leaders; and members of the Management Team, who joined the Executive Chairman in demonstrating the Local Government’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of its residents.
