…Community expresses excitement as Lagos Mainland Local Government flags off 3-month project…
The ground breaking ceremony for an Ultra Modern Market was held, Friday, August 14th, 2026, at the project site in Iddo Community, Lagos Mainland Local Government Area.
The event marked the official commencement of construction for the modern facility aimed at improving trade, creating jobs, and providing residents with convenient access to daily goods and services.
There was a high level of community excitement and support for the project.
The initiative is driven by the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, in partnership with Community Leaders.
In his address, he appreciated all stakeholders for their support and commitment to making the vision a reality. He stated that the Ultra Modern Market is designed to: Provide a safe, clean, and organized trading space for traders, boost the local economy and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Lagos Mainland Local Government and Iddo Community
The project completion target is set for a duration of 2 to 3 months.
The symbolic ground breaking was performed by Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, followed by prayers for the safety of workers and the success of the project.
The ceremony was well attended by dignitaries including: Vice-Chairman, Lagos Mainland Local Government: Hon. Adewale Moshood Momoh, Council Manager: Mr. Ojikutu Muniru Olufemi, Leader of the House: Hon. Azeez Olooto Apex Leader, Councillors, Special Advisers, Supervisors, Community Leaders Chairman Iddo Community CDC/CDAs, Project Team: Contractor Alhaji Sodiq, Market Women Representative: Acting Iya Oloja, and other stakeholders.
The ground breaking ceremony was peaceful and well-attended.
