Lagos Mainland Local Government has joined other stakeholders across Lagos State in participating in the 2026 Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, themed “Turn Alausa Purple Campaign”, aimed at raising awareness and strengthening collective action against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The awareness campaign, held on in the council Secretariat as part of the State-wide initiative to promote a society where women, children and vulnerable persons are protected from all forms of domestic and sexual violence.
The campaign, tagged “A City United Against SGBV”, emphasises the importance of collective responsibility in preventing sexual and gender-based violence, supporting survivors and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.
Speaking on the significance of the campaign, the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for residents.
The Chairman encouraged residents to speak up against all forms of abuse and violence, stressing that the fight against SGBV requires the active participation of government, families, communities, institutions and individuals.

The campaign also aligns with the vision of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, SAN, Executive Governor of Lagos State promoting the safety, dignity and wellbeing of all residents.
