There was excitement and relief at the Lagos Mainland Local Government Secretariat on *Monday, 27th July 2026* as the Council commenced the presentation of 2026 GCE forms to *500 indigenous students* of Lagos Mainland.
The event was organized by the Education Department in collaboration with the Office of the Executive Chairman, *Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba*.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman said the gesture reflects the Council’s commitment to education and youth development.
“As we recognize that education is the key to unlocking individual potential, today we are presenting GCE forms to 500 indigenes of Lagos Mainland. This is our way of investing in the future of our children and ensuring that no child is left behind because of financial stress,” he said.
He added that the forms were subsidized by the Council to ease the financial burden on parents, and that *free registration support* is being provided at the Education Department.
In his opening remarks, the Supervisor for Education, *Mr. Oluseye Olofin*, urged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and shun all forms of examination malpractice.
*Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba* reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational advancement, highlighting ongoing projects such as the renovation of schools in Lagos Mainland Local Government.
“Since assuming office, we have distributed 500 GCE forms and UTME forms to residents and indigenes of Mainland Local Government. More initiatives are still coming,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to face their studies and future with determination, and advised them to shun cultism and make Lagos Mainland proud.
The Majority Leader of the Legislative Arm, *Hon. Oluwaseyi Adelakun*, also commended the Chairman, Vice Chairman, the Legislature, and the entire Management Team for their dedication. She advised the beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined, and hardworking in pursuit of their academic goals.
One of the beneficiaries, *Ayinde Sekirat Ajoke*, expressed gratitude to the Lagos Mainland Local Government and the Executive Chairman for the opportunity.
In attendance were members of the Management Team, Legislative Arm, Supervisors, and Special Advisers of Lagos Mainland Local Government.
